PRP vs Exosomes: What's The Difference?

You may remember that PRP was previously part of our skin rejuvenation offering at TFS. We've since transitioned away from PRP and taken a different approach into Exosomes. But what is the difference between the two?

PRP: working with your own biology

Platelet-rich plasma (PRP) involves drawing a small amount of your blood, processing it to concentrate the platelets, and using the resulting preparation as part of a treatment.

Because PRP is derived from your own blood, the final preparation can vary between individuals depending on factors such as the blood sample and processing method.

Exosomes: a different approach

Exosomes are tiny extracellular vesicles involved in cell-to-cell communication. Products described as exosome-based differ in their source, composition, manufacturing and intended use, so they aren't all the same.

With an exosome based product, we're working with a formulated product rather than relying on collecting and processing your own blood for each treatment. This gives us a more defined starting point, with the product's composition determined by its specific formulation and manufacturing process.

In simple terms, we're taking some of the variability out of the preparation process. It's a different approach to skin rejuvenation that doesn't require a blood draw, and one that reflects how our treatment offering has evolved.

So, why did TFS move away from PRP?

It's not about one approach being inherently wrong, but rather recognising that there are different ways to approach skin rejuvenation and continuing to evolve alongside them.

At TFS, we believe in making informed decisions, staying curious and continually reviewing the options available to us so that our treatment offering reflects our values and approach to skin health.
