Whole Health Supplements to the Clinic
At The Functional Skin Studio, our philosophy has always been simple: skin is never just skin.
While topical skincare and in-clinic treatments play an important role in supporting the skin, we know that many skin concerns are influenced by what’s happening internally. Over the years in clinic we’ve seen time and time again that when we support the body as a whole, the skin often responds in a much more meaningful and sustainable way.
This is why we’ve recently introduced Whole Health supplements into clinic, beginning with the Gut Repair Support.
Why Gut Health Matters for Skin
The connection between the gut and the skin is well established, often referred to as the gut skin axis. When the gut is functioning well, it supports processes throughout the body that are important for skin health, including:
Regulation of inflammation
Nutrient absorption
Immune system balance
Detoxification pathways
Hormonal communication
When the gut is under stress or out of balance, this can sometimes show up on the skin in ways such as:
Persistent acne or congestion
Reactive or inflamed skin
Impaired skin barrier function
Sensitivity and redness
Skin that struggles to heal or regulate
Of course, skin concerns are rarely caused by just one factor, but the gut can often be an important piece of the puzzle.
Why We Chose Whole Health
When selecting supplements to bring into clinic, it was important to us that they aligned with our values around education, evidence-informed care, and thoughtful protocols.
Whole Health supplements were developed by practitioner Tia Miers, whose work focuses on supporting the body through functional and holistic health principles. The Gut Repair Protocol in particular was designed to gently support key aspects of digestive health and gut integrity.
This approach felt like a natural extension of the way we already work with our clients, looking at the skin through a broader health lens rather than isolating it as a standalone concern.
A Missing Piece for Some Skin Journeys
For many clients, topical skincare and treatments may be enough to support their skin goals.
But for others, particularly those experiencing persistent inflammation, compromised skin barriers, or recurring breakouts, internal support can sometimes help address deeper contributing factors.
By introducing the Gut Repair Protocol, we’re able to offer another layer of support for clients who may benefit from a more integrative approach.
A Thoughtful, Individual Approach
As with everything we do in clinic, supplements are never a one size fits all recommendation.
Any discussion around internal support is always guided by your consultation, medical history, current symptoms, and overall skin presentation. Our goal is simply to help you understand what options may be available and how different pieces of your health may be influencing your skin.
Supporting Skin From the Inside Out
Introducing Whole Health supplements is not about replacing skincare or treatments, it’s about expanding the ways we can support our clients.
Skin health is often a reflection of many interconnected systems within the body. By acknowledging and supporting those connections, we’re able to approach skin concerns in a more complete and thoughtful way.
Because ultimately, our goal has always been the same:
To support skin health in a way that is sustainable, personalised, and rooted in the bigger picture.
